Sixteen HT - Odyssey

For the Odyssey print exhibition and the other lined-up print event, the collective had to come up with two more concept topics. The topics were decided from a number of possibilities by the classically tested diplomatic vote, in which we decided on 'Noise' and 'Boundaries'. The resolutions for these topics will be screen printed.

At this point we had a collective meeting where we decided the possiblities of the brief topic. During this discussion, we thought about the possibility of a very conceptually driven resolution.

We get to exhibit 5 prints in total, which is useful considering that there are 5 of us. The idea was to collaborate on each and every one of the 5 screen prints. If each print had 5 layers, then each of us could start one print and contribute one layer to each design.

This is quite a bold move in terms of design solutions, so we decided to test the idea in advance of actually creating the designs, printing them, and then seeing that they don't work.

To test, Ben and I had to create the first layer of the design each, and pass it on to another person in the collective. We estimated that this would only take a few days, and then we could see how all 5 of our styles would work together. We wanted to keep them simple and fast turn around.

i came up with a simple idea after a few initial idea designs, and sent it onward. i will post the finals of each design soon, but this is my original.
