Ecdysis

Ecdysis is the dictionary definition name for the process of an anthropod or insect moulting. The process is undergone by loads of different animals, though mostly insects. It begins with the separation of the outer part of the animals body (the cuticle) and then a fluid similar to digestive acid which secretes into the gaps and eventually digests most of the old cuticle, allowing the new epidermal cells to emerge.

The process is similar to this in a lot of animals, but goes by different names. Lists of animals that typically moult in this or a similar way are:

Caterpillars/ Crickets/ Grasshoppers/ Beetles/ Dragonflies/ Frogs/ Snakes/ Salamanders etc

I may start by creating an idea I had regarding a butterfly and sequential illustration.
